Who did we all really elect to go to Washington?
Today we feature an Editorial piece authored by Mike Hoagland we have titled who did we all really elect to go to Washington? It outlines the recent story behind Ed Martin and his frustration that our politicians are not doing what their constituents want.
We share Mike’s frustration as so many politicians on the national, state and local level are all captured by their donors or misdeeds. We think however the people are awakening and the pendulum is returning. We have predicted for quite some time that the Democrat party will disappear and either the republican party will either go under a massive transformation or it to will be gone. So we now will turn it over to Mike Hoagland. Let us know what you think.
MIKE HOAGLAND EDITORIAL
I have discussed issues concerning republican legislators holding office in Florida. Today, I want to point out issues that “We the People” witness taking place in Washington DC (the swamp). We elected Donald Trump as president because we wanted to see him implement his agenda. Voters across this country voted for republican candidates to assist Trump with the implementation of his agenda. How is that working?
In my opinion, each republican legislator is either MAGA or establishment. Trump has transformed the republican party to represent ALL Americans. The establishment types are diminishing in number as time passes. After a few more election cycles, there will probably be only America First MAGA republicans or whatever name the party decides to call itself.
Meanwhile, America First citizens will have to accept that those republicans that suffer from TDS will do whatever they can to undermine the President’s actions. Every legislator has special interest groups that determine how they will vote on issues. The system is still corrupt but Trump is smart enough to create work-arounds when he encounters opposition. Senator Tillis has killed the appointment of Ed Martin to be the Chief Prosecutor in the District of Washington. Ed Martin has done a great job as the temporary Prosecutor. Tillis has been compromised and forced to this “No” decision. He will not be reelected in 2026 in North Carolina. Know that Trump had a backup plan. He has appointed Jeanine Pirro in this position. Had he not done this, Judge Boasberg would have made this appointment. You can imagine Tillis and Boasberg conspired on this but got outfoxed by Trump. There are other republicans that can’t seem to support anything Trump proposes. Collins, Murkowski, McConnell come to mind. Then there are the RINOs. Graham, Cornyn fit that bill. There are any number of house members that fit this description. Republicans are more interested in satisfying special interest than their voters.
What are we to do? We have to do a better job of vetting federal candidates. Any that have been in office for any length of time are probably compromised by some special interest group. Most legislators spend an inordinate amount of time fund raising in order to manage their next campaign unless they find a sugar daddy who contributes a large sum. Significant amounts of money come from foreign actors. Again, campaign finance laws are needed. Who will fight our corrupt system? It is difficult finding those who have the courage to do what is “right” because they have difficulty getting elected. Local political organizations need to be active and support honest candidates. Being a nice person is not sufficient. Those who will stand up and support an America First agenda should garner support. Locals have the votes but their positions need to be messaged properly. A candidate, also, must be electable. There are examples of candidates holding office without having the most campaign funds. Heck, the democrats outspend republicans in almost every race and yet, republicans hold the house, senate and the White House. If our country had enforceable campaign finance laws that kept foreign money out of our races, democrats would probably never hold the house, senate or White House again. Thanks for listening.
