We have been writing how the Governor, his public utilities commission, the Florida legislature and profit hungry utilities in Florida have been forcing high cost, unreliable green new scam rate hikes down the throats for Florida’s citizens for the past decade. The continued push for solar projects is sucking every last dollar out of the budgets of Florida’s citizens. This push also helps our greatest geopolitical China who manufactures most of this infrastructure. This push is turning our great state into an ugly mess as solar farms remove tens of thousands of acres of beautiful land forever. Did you know solar projects cost 5 to 6 times the cost of say a 24/7 reliable natural gas plant that actually produces 24/7 power. Are you kidding us! A first grader could figure out this is all wrong. Trump’s big beautiful bill will help as the federal subsidies for these corrupt projects will eventually lose the lifeblood of federal subsidies.

So why does this all continue to happen? The answer is simple. Greed and corruption! Our politicians and the political committees that support them receive millions of dollars from these monopoly utilities! How the hell does this happen? A monopoly already has the business. The money changes hands for only one reason. That reason is to have our leaders look the other way when the monopolies present projects and plans that drive up their profits multiple times. This practice must stop!

We have written Governor DeSantis and ask him to intervene. Crickets. Stopping this theft from the citizens of Florida would be the right thing to do but he does not do it. Why? Perhaps he is captured by all this money. Patriots across Florida are now being shut out of these rate hearings. This is further proof of the corruption involved here. Why are so many Floridians sleeping? Over 40% increases in rates the next 4 years. Have Floridians lost their minds. All of our politicians have failed us. We have been organizing to try to stop this with bright light being shined. So what do they do. They shut the public process down and take it behind closed doors. Evil things always happen in darkness when you cannot watch.

Read this article we have reposted this morning written by Emily Mahoney of the Tampa Bay Times. It will make you scream from the rafters. Get out and fight about this. If these rate increases, go through with more unreliable corrupt solar projects you will only have yourself to blame. And one last thought. Down the road when we realize our power grid is unreliable because it is solar based and we have brown or blackouts and we need even more power what will happen. The answer is simple. If the supply of energy cannot meet the demand our energy bills will go up again. The whole system needs changing. Our elected representatives do not care about us. You see it everywhere. FPL rate hike could be settled, avoiding intensive public hearings

Corporate groups joined with the utility to ask for a pause in the case one business day before the hearings begin.

Florida Power & Light, along with several groups representing business interests, have proposed settling the utility’s historic rate case, which would bring a swift and quiet end to a battle that affects the electric bills of roughly 12 million Floridians.

In a filing posted late Friday afternoon, Florida Power & Light notified regulators that it has reached an agreement with several of the groups involved in its rate case. The list of those groups included many business interests — such as a federation of retail companies, Walmart, gas stations and industrial companies — but did not include the state-appointed consumer advocate or other groups that represent residents.

If approved by regulators, the filing would allow Florida Power & Light to avoid two weeks of public hearings in which company executives would likely have to take the witness stand and defend the hikes. Those hearings can lead to internal company documents becoming part of the public record. They were scheduled to begin Monday.

Instead, members of the Florida Public Service Commission will likely convene Monday afternoon to first decide whether to grant the utility’s request to pause the case while a settlement is hammered out. That would shift much of the discussion behind closed doors, as settlement negotiations are confidential.

In a news release, Florida Power & Light president Armando Pimentel celebrated the news, saying a settlement would be “a win for our customers.”

“Any agreement that we reach should enable FPL to continue to make smart investments on behalf of our customers, ensuring that we can continue to provide reliable electricity to power our fast-growing state while keeping customer bills low,” his statement read.

Florida Power & Light’s nearly $10 billion rate hike request is considered the largest in American history. The company has also been seeking a rate of shareholder profit that, if approved as-is, would be the highest in the nation, independent researchers have confirmed to the Tampa Bay Times.

Groups representing mostly residential customers, including the state-appointed public counsel, opposed the motion to halt the case in favor of a settlement.

In a letter also filed Friday, they told regulators they would submit a more full-throated opposition Monday, but in the meantime were still preparing for the scheduled public hearings. Public Counsel Walt Trierweiler has previously railed against the company’s request for an unusual mechanism that he said would allow customers to be double-charged in order to jack up shareholder profits.

“Having a public hearing is a public good,” said Bradley Marshall, a lawyer who represents three consumer and environmental groups in the rate case.

He noted that about 93% of Florida Power & Light’s customers are residents, yet the proponents of this settlement would largely be corporations.

“It’s a small but well-represented minority of FPL’s customers,” Marshall said.

In response to a question about the hearings, Florida Power & Light spokesperson Andrew Sutton said if a settlement is reached, there would still be public discussion about its contents.

“The settlement agreement will be presented to the (Public Service Commission) for its review and approval, continuing what has been an extensive public process,” he said.
