Save our Youth

Mike Hoagland outlines the case to save our youth!

Can we remember when our generation received an education of reading, writing and arithmetic? How would we end up if we had an education that our youth has received over the past few decades? Today, the president of the Florida Teachers Union says that Florida ranks 50th in the U.S. because every other state pays their teachers more than Florida. Don’t accept her statement as true. She measures the quality of education based on teacher pay. The union never looks internally to evaluate the quality of student results. In Florida, public school enrollment is declining. More students are enrolled in charter schools, private schools or home schooled. The union leadership should be asking “Why is this occurring?”. Parents know the answer. Parents are sick and tired of the liberal WOKE agenda. They are sick of the indoctrination government schools impose on their children.

Some Florida school boards are going to have to close some schools. Tens of thousands of students are leaving government schools. Particularly in south Florida. Competition will elevate the quality of education for our students. Because Governor DeSantis has expanded school choice in Florida, virtually every parent can choose an educational platform that meets their expectations and beliefs. The union leadership is complaining that the public schools are wrongfully losing funding intended for them. They don’t understand that all homeowners in Florida pay a school board tax. If that tax goes towards educating our youth with a curriculum that educates rather than indoctrinate, so be it. All Americans will be good with that result. Instead of complaining, the union leadership should recognize that they now can witness what most all non-governmental workers have always known. Competition either makes you
better or you will be unemployed. The solution going forward for the educational union is to compete and that means offering your customers what they want. Now that parents have a choice, if public education does not adapt, their customer base will continue to decline. It is amazing that educators don’t get the basics in our capitalistic country. Compete! Did these so- called educated elites really think that parents were going to put up with their liberal BS forever? Keep in mind, COVID exposed the Marxist liberal indoctrination that was being taught in our schools. Also, we witnessed the WOKE agenda in our schools. We are fortunate that Governor DeSantis understands the basics of competition and created the school choice programs for all students. Thank God we live in Florida.

In order to keep the gains made by our Brevard County School Board, we must be vigilant. Our school board candidates cannot show their party affiliation. Many voters go to vote with no idea what the beliefs of the candidates are. We make the effort to know the party affiliation of the candidates we support. We have interviewed them. We have had them speak before our membership. We have witnessed the positive results over the past two years when the board flipped from WOKE to conservative. We have witnessed the lies and misrepresentations made by democrat candidates. We must reelect Republican Matt Susin as he was instrumental in facilitating all the positive changes. Matt Susin is in our school board district 4. Republican John Thomas is a candidate in district 3. If you have any friends or family in his district, please support him. If Matt and John are elected, our public school system in Brevard County will offer our youth an education and compete with other choices. With all good choices, Brevard County can lead the state in a quality education for every student.
