Have Utility monopolies in Florida Captured all of our Politicians?
Today We ask Have Utility monopolies in Florida Captured all of our Politicians? It sure does seem that way to us. Mike Hoagland’s Editorial piece we are posting today is a must read for all Floridians. We also ask why would we ever allow a monopoly to donate to a campaign or political committee? They already have the business! Think about that for a moment! Could it be they are dumping unreliable but extremely costly solar projects on us because they make more money on them. You be the judge. For ease in understanding this issue we have included two video presentations done by energy expert Dave Walsh. If you care about your pocketbook and the need for reliable 24/7 power project to harden our energy grid you must read this article and watch the videos.
MIKE HOAGLAND EDITORIAL
Remember at our July monthly meeting, our guest speaker, Alan Ross explained what is occurring within the current corrupt campaign contributions environment. It is difficult to determine who or what organizations are contributing to the political PACs. It is further difficult to track because these PACs contribute to other PACs. It is just a sophisticated money laundering scheme. There exists a total lack of transparency or accountability. Through Alan Ross’s efforts, it was determined that two extremely large contributors to PAC funding are FPL and Duke Energy.
I bring this up now because through their efforts, we will end up with our energy costs increasing by as much as 40%. Why you may ask. Well, as you can witness from their ads on television, they explain to us how they are good stewards of the environment and as such, are focusing on solar and wind as sources of renewable energy. Florida does not have enough land mass for solar panels or wind mills to generate sufficient electricity to meet our current needs much less the future. Nuclear or natural gas require much less land and are much more affordable. Who is making this decision?
The Public Service Commission (PSC) of Florida is going to make the decision. Public meetings are jammed with FPL and Duke Energy supporters. There is no way for opponents to either get on the agenda or make their argument in the allowed 2 or 3 minutes in the public forum. FPL and Duke Energy proponents dominate the time. Will the Governor intervene? Who knows? His political ambitions may require him to go along. Just be prepared for a 40 % increase in utility bills.
Keep in mind, that most of the products for solar and wind come from China. China’s manufacturing requires an enormous amount of energy and they use, primarily, coal plants for this purpose. They have no environmental restrictions. So, they inundate our landscape with ugly wind mills which when they become inoperable, we have no way of disposing the waste so they just sit there. If the wind doesn’t blow, of well. Their solar panels require constant sunshine plus the amount of land required is so unbelievable that one has to wonder what brain trust came up with this solution. Why is the PSC allowing two virtual energy company monopolies to make massive political contributions to PACs in an effort to implement their energy agenda which only benefits China and the shareholders of FPL or Duke. One would think the media would like to weigh in on this but can you imagine the advertising dollars they would put at risk.
Our political leaders are benefitting from substantial campaign contributions so they aren’t going to say anything. Our local representatives are going to be gagged by the leaders and threatened. This will require our Governor to weigh in. Will he? Will Byron Donalds weigh in? I am certain there are others making money off of this boondoggle. How a politician in good conscience can allow this injustice to move forward is beyond belief. Let’s ask Debbie Mayfield and Brian Hodgers how they feel.
